Retreat for Social Change is a seven-day immersive experience for social activists, organisers, and change-makers from around the world who are committed to justice, solidarity, and collective action. Beginning and ending in Marrakesh, the retreat journeys into the High Atlas Mountains, including time in a traditional kasbah and a guided two-day ascent of Jbel Toubkal, the highest mountain in North Africa.
This is not a creative writing retreat, but it is deeply rooted in storytelling. The retreat allows time, space, and support for the group to share their own stories of lived experience in a non-judgmental and compassionate environment.
Through deep listening and reflecting on these collective narratives, we move beyond isolation and burnout toward collective understanding. The retreat creates space to reconnect with nature and purpose, to strengthen solidarity across movements and borders, and draw renewed inspiration for the long-term work of social change. The physical challenge of the mountain ascent mirrors the inner and collective journey: demanding, grounding, and ultimately transformative.
